Coming off a 32 mile total week, let’s see what RunKeeper has me doing this morning. 5 miles + strides. Keep the run at a conversational pace and the strides should be run at 95% effort after the run with a full recovery between.
Okay, training session 29 of 64 begins today. Feeling a bit sluggish this mid-morning and it showed on my splits. Everybody has an off day and today was one of those. Even still, finished and that’s the ultimate goal. Finish what you start.
What to do when you don’t feel like running?
I don’t feel like running. If you do any type of exercise, you’ve said this. I don’t feel like running. I don’t feel like working out. I don’t feel like going to yoga class. Well, that one I don’t blame you. Maddening!
There are plenty of times when we don’t feel like doing something. Nobody wakes up wanting to do dishes or vacuum the house. Nobody truly wants to wash the car. But, if you don’t do them, you’ll end up with a sink full of dishes, dirty carpets, and a car growing mushrooms. We need to learn not to let how we feel dictate how we act and the sooner we get our mindsets towards this, we can choose (not feel) to be joyful.
So, next time you don’t feel like running, barring injury or sickness, choose to do it anyway and at the end, you’ll find a special joy that you didn’t give up.
